Meet Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee, Amsterdam-based radio initiative dedicated to the arts. They can be found making broadcasts at many cultural institutions, and have their headquarters in the city-centre, in a side room inside the Oude Kerk, overlooking Red Light Radio. They create a space through the medium of radio, where intimate and critical conversations with artists can take place, and where art is presented and shared via sound.
“Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee is a collective. We make live radio shows and podcasts, but we’re also active in other (and usually several) roles such as curator, researcher, DJ and writer.”
Besides all the work that they do for the cultural field, Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee like dancing, walking, cooking, and reading – the good things in life. And as for one of their first moments of being enchanted by a museum or gallery in Amsterdam: “The Silence at the Oude Kerk, the oldest silence in the city.”
During the RijksakademieOpen, they’re going to broadcast live radio shows for three days, with contributions from artists and conversations with Rijksakademie residents.
Is there an AAW venue they’ve never been to? De Nederlandsche Bank, the place where the Paleis voor Volksvlijt used to be – they’re keen to make a broadcast from there one day.
“The best thing about Amsterdam Art Weekend is cycling around different locations in the late afternoon to see performances and exhibitions.”
