Metahaven: Earth marks the first major museum survey of the Dutch collective’s moving image and design work. Through immersive video installations the exhibition showcases the development of Metahaven’s interest in poetry, storytelling, digital super structures and propaganda. Originally known for their research-driven conceptual design practice, since 2015 Metahaven has been making films that defy genre, drawing from experimental cinema, anime, science fiction, and digital platforms. Earthoffers an overview of much of the collective’s moving image work to date, which is exhibited alongside works on textile and paper, some of which feature in their films.
