This new film installation is Belgian artist David Claerbout’s second solo exhibition at the gallery; his first was in 2002. He investigates the conceptual impact of the passage of time using video and digital photography.
Specifically, Claerbout manipulates still and moving imagery to suggest an otherworldly level of existence, something that might refer to a specific place or event, but whose timeline is not clear, oscillating between past and present. The element of sound is critical in many of his works, often used either as a narrative device or a guide for the viewer to navigate the architectural space in the film. Claerbout’s works on paper will be shown in the Bakery project space.
