Christie's Amsterdam will hold its biannual sales of postwar and contemporary art at the Zuiveringshal in the Westergasfabriek.
The Amsterdam auctions are an innovative response to market demand for mid-value works. With re-evaluations of historical figures and movements and a growing secondary market for younger artists, Christie’s Amsterdam has been instrumental in developing the breadth and depth of several collecting categories.
In this upcoming sale we celebrate 70 years since the foundation of the CoBrA group and commemorate the legacy of these exceptional artists, the last true avant-garde of the 20th century. We also have a strong focus on Dutch, German and Belgian artists in the minimal, conceptual, zero and new figuration categories.
The sale features works by Günther Förg, Georg Baselitz, Thomas Schütte, Wolfgang Tillmans, Sigmar Polke, Jan Schoonhoven, Ad Dekkers, Karel Appel, Corneille, Pierre Alechinsky, Walter Leblanc, Ad Reinhardt, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, Sam Francis, and many more.
