Many shades of Brouwn - Jimmy Robert

23 November - 22 December at Stigter Van Doesburg
Jimmy Robert

In 2015, Jimmy Robert integrated several works by Dutch conceptual artist stanley brouwn (1935-2017) into a collage, Untitled (Brouwn). The basis of the piece is a handwritten letter to the artist, ending with the words “May this text be an indication of the space between you and me”. In this way Robert elicited a response to the letter, speaking Brouwn’s language of gauging distances based on a personal measurement system. The practice of stanley brouwn provides the foundation for Robert’s new installations and works on paper in ‘Many Shades of Brouwn’.
