Doing business with the Dutch - Ade Darmawan

23 November - 19 January at Lumen Travo Gallery
Ade Darmawan

This project looks at how a society agrees to work together and sell its human capital by consciously constructing a national identity and presenting this as a commercial asset.

This structured trade creates trends, objects and stories that are often reinterpreted and misinterpreted. Inspired by early twentieth-century Dutch books and images depicting Indonesia, and by contemporary Dutch trading culture, it takes the form of a design for a domestic interior.
