Every year, the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (est. 1870) selects some 25 artists from all over the world out of a total of more than 1,500 applications. The two-year residency programme located within the walls of the former Kavallerie-Kazerne (Cavalry Barracks) provides the artists with individual workshops, as well as technical, artistic, and theoretical facilities and support.
