A Minor State of Flux
A minor state of flux is a group exhibition with works that invite the idea of fluidity, rotation and mutation as part of their existence. The exhibition playfully tests, in unstable surroundings, the true scope of (human) perception. What do we register, what passes us by and thus goes unnoticed? How do we determine what is valuable or useless when everything just moves forward in the same forward-motion? Is it physically possible to ever see the same painting twice when physiological, political and social conditions perpetually shift? The works in the exhibition, seen through a scientific framework, echo these questions in a philosophical manner. By emphasizing the complete lifecycle decay comes as much part of the work than the seed that has given birth to it. A minor state of flux seeks the spectacular in all that is ephemeral and is an ardent plea for embracing all things temporal.

A mathematical conjecture by Giovanni Ciná underwrites the theoretical basis for the exhibition that sketches a possible eternal string of connections that touch upon another by using Category Theory. The exhibition is completed by a publication designed by Roosje Klap and Pauline Le Pape (Atelier Roosje Klap) that features texts by Laurie Cluitmans, Akkemay Lammers and Julia Mullié.

The exhibition is generously made possible with the support of Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, Stichting Niemeijer Fonds, Stichting Stokroos and Arti et Amicitiae.
