Nachtelijke Dwaling #11 is presented by Sarah van Lamsweerde, an artist who is fascinated by iconoclasm. During the performance ‘Tessels Oogh’ the audience will be sensorily transported back to 1566, the year in which the Oude Kerk fell victim to the iconoclastic fury. As the Oude Kerk gradually falls dark in the evening, memories of these times will be reawakened. Objects that were destroyed and stories that have fallen into obscurity will be brought back to life, in this ‘nocturnal wandering’ employing sound rather than  visible means.

Sarah van Lamsweerde
Sarah van Lamsweerde (Brussels/Amsterdam) works across theater and visual arts, exploring the range between (unfamiliar) languages and mass media phenomena. Her work has been coproduced and presented by international art spaces such as Veem House for Performance (Amsterdam, NL), Onomatopee Projects (Eindhoven, NL) Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art (Rotterdam, NL), STUK (Leuven, BE), Performatik (Brussels, BE), 3rd Ural Industrial Biennial (Yekaterinburg, RU), Dampfzentrale (Bern, CH) etc.

nachtelijke dwalingen
Nachtelijke Dwalingen is a performance series produced and presented by Oude Kerk, curated by Fleur van Muiswinkel. During each ‘dwaling’ you encounter an artist who introduces a new perspective to the hidden, forgotten and obscure aspects of Oude Kerk, as a building, a monument and as part of the surrounding Red Light District. They have been invited to create new, performative, site-specific work, thus examining the concept of commonality at Oude Kerk.

Cast witnesses – de Brakke Grond
In her latest film Cast Witnesses (2017, 25’), Sarah van Lamsweerde breathes new life into classical casts. De Brakke Grond is organising a programme about the Dutch première on the 1st of November.
