Internet Disko, Jakup Ferri, Vigan Nimani, Jeton Gusiam, van Zijll Langhout
VZL / Contemporary Art is proud to invite you to its new exhibition Internet DisKo, for the opening of the cultural season. Jakup Ferri has invited  the painters  Vigan Nimani and  Jeton Gusia from Kosovo to come for a show to VZL/Contemporary Art in Amsterdam.

They will built up an installation with new paintings, photo's and music to bring their salon Internet DisKo a new life in Amsterdam for a couple of weeks.

In 2005 Jakup Ferri rented a studio in Prishtina together with Vigan Nimani; they named it Internet DisKo. It soon became a meeting place for local artists, a place for the growing cohort of like-minded young artists in Kosovo. During that time the art scene in Prishtina was lifeless—there were no galleries, museums, or artist-run spaces—but there were artists, artists who sought space and community.
When the rent was raised and they could no longer afford it, some friends suggested that they should start selling drinks and open the studio for events in order to keep the space alive. And that is how their private studio became a collective salon. Internet DisKo was a studio by day and a social hub by night.

Internet DisKo has been closed for years now, however its spirit has manifested in other locations like XhoniDepo, Tingell Tangell, Tetris, Dudi (Prishtina);Linsensuppe (Berlin); and Rijksakademie (Amsterdam).

We warmly invite you for the festive opening of Internet DisKo during the New Art Season Weekend, on the 9th of September 2017 between 16-20 hrs.

Curator of the show Internet DisKo, Jakup Ferri (1981) was born in Pristhina, Kosovo. Has graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts,  University of Prishtina and alumni Rijksakademie 2007/2008.
Artist Vigan Nimani (1981) was born in Pristhina, Kosovo. Lives and works in Prishtina. Has graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts, The Department of Painting, University of Prishtina. He had an exhibition at the Rijksakademie in 2007. Artist Jeton Gusia (1980) was born in Pristhina, Kosovo. Lives and works in Prishtina.
