GERHARD RICHTER, ink on offset print, 19,8 x 23,5 cm, cut page from catalogue
Gerhard Richter's (Germany, 1932) most valuable contribution to contemporary art is his ability to disconcert the viewer at first sight. He urges us not to interpret his works, by blurring the photorealistic painted image to create distance and abstraction. In this exhibition, Richter added his signature as an extra layer to reproductions of his paintings, again creating a sense of alienation by bluntly writing an authorization on them.

The gallery will also stage an exhibition of work by Gijs van Lenthe (The Netherlands, 1989).
