El Anatsui’s (Ghana, 1944) large-scale bottletop tapestries have enthralled viewers around the world. He has received widespread acclaim including a lifetime achievement award at the 2015 Venice Biennale and the 2009 Prince Claus Award. His works are to be found in the collections of several prestigious museums worldwide.
‘Meyina’ presents a portrait of the artist by bringing together disparate fragments that form a whole. Shaped on the one hand through archival material, the exhibition attempts to present new insights into the making of his works as well as the development of his career. On the other, it shows the magnificent sculptural installations for which he is so well known.
Prince Claus Fund Gallery invites you to the opening of El Anatsui’s exhibition, which also celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Prince Claus Fund.
