Rumiko Hagiwara, Drawing of Ambiguity, 2017, 40 x 30 cm, pencil on paper

As an outsider to the Netherlands, Japanese artist Rumiko Hagiwara (1979) uses the misreadings and misconceptions she encounters in her daily life as an important source of reference in her art. She reveals the factual misalignment between what is there, what we see and what we say. For this exhibition, Hagiwara has created new work highlighting humorous situations displaced from their Asian context which have gotten lost in translation and take on new meaning.  The opening of the exhibition is Friday 24 Nov. 17-21 hrs. Rumiko shows 'ghost in silence' in a performance version at 20 hrs.
