Tip of the Week | Week 12

by Peter van der Es

This week we asked Peter van der Es, Founding Director at Unfair Amsterdam, to share his favorite current exhibitions with us. Here’s a list of the shows he feels you cannot miss.

“There is just so much to see and so little time, so this week you get a 3-in-1 tip deal. Firstly, I would highly recommend seeing the show 'Over hang' at the W139. The shows (and especially openings) at the W139 can be a real festival of crowds, works and occasional chaos all around. The current show 'Over hang', with works by Charlott Weise and Dan Walwin among others, creates a beautiful juxtaposition to this tradition. The presentation, mostly video, is clean and monumental, and shows the space of the W139 as the remarkable cathedral it is. A subtle reminder that we are running out of art spaces both big and experimental in Amsterdam.

Also, please don't forget to see ‘A Minor State of Flux’ at Arti et Amicitiae, where Seán Hannan and Steven van Grinsven put together a great show with an all star line-up. Meanwhile, Belgian rising star Tom Callemin is showing us what photography is about at De Brakke Grond, a definite must-see.”
